Introduction

Fingerpaint seeks to facilitate the exposure of talented young artists at high-end galleries in New York and across the country through limited engagement charity oriented events. The title “Fingerpaint” evokes the do-it-yourself mentality associated with youth culture, showcasing the collective’s art shows and exhibits.

Building on the enormous success of last years event, Fingerpaint has attracted top emerging artists and noteworthy guest curators to produce an incredible exhibition of cutting edge art.

Theme

For 2009’s curation, Fingerpaint seeks to present a series of art related around “The Ties That Bind.” During times of difficulty and uncertainty we often look closer to home for support, inspiration, and comfort. Family is an integral foundation to any culture. For 2009 we have selected work that reflects each artists’ interpretation of “Family” through their selected art medium.

Whether brought together through the values of friends and family, dealing with emotions of separation, maturation, growth, love, loneliness, strife, violence and devotion, the artwork reflects a particularly pertinent theme in our contemporary society.

Event Organization

The board for 2009 consists of emerging photographers, entrepreneurs and curators all actively involved in the arts and charity.

Artists

The list of artists for 2009’s Fingerpaint is currently in the process of being finalized. With an overwhelming submission of artwork for inclusion, the curating committee is continuing through studio visits, and reviews throughout early April.

The group of artists selected will be a diverse group from around the country. The presented selection of artists will be a concise representation of voices for the next generation of American artists. Each included artist is passionate and dedicated to their craft. Fingerpaint takes pride in creating a platform for showcasing the top up and coming talent.

Charity

Fingerpaint 2008 partnered with Brad Pitt’s Make it Right Foundation and raised over $25,000. In November, Gin Lane & LOLA New York curated Art Rocks! New York which raised over $150,000 for the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center at Columbia University.

For 2009, Fingerpaint NYC is in talks with reputable and exciting charity organizations who regularly work with and support the art world.

Demographic

Through LOLA New York, Gin Lane and the Committee, Fingerpaint has access to some of the top influencers, tastemakers, collectors, art students, press and media in New York City and other international cities.
